Am I the only person who finds this question offensive?

This question was posted several times today in several different locations on YA. I was very surprised that it wasn’t removed. Isn’t posting a question against guidelines? Am I the only one who found this question offensive?

Oops! I didn’t put in the correct link. I guess I don’t know how. Any way the question was
Why do the people who attend church in the Bible Belt have the lowest IQ’s in the country, and why do the lying
Type that in the search for questions section and you’ll see it.

The question was intended to be offensive – consider the source and the forum and take it with several grains of salt.

As for this site http://www.sq.4mg.com/stateIQ-income.htm giving evidence to back the claim. It does not.

The IQ’s stated in the list by state were implied by ACT/SAT scores not IQ test, those tests were from High School students, and one must look at the percentage of High School students who took the test in each state. Some of the highest states only had a very small percentage of their student taking the test (single digits), while the lower states had upwards of 75% of there students taking the tests. Of course this skewed results. If you only have the best students taking the tests, of course they will be higher. So it can be implied that those states with the highest percent of students taking the test most likely had higher over all IQs in the population.

Over all the IQ scores ranged from 94 to 104 all with in normal range for a High School Student.

I’m not offended, but a lot of people probably are.

I quite agree with you.

"Isn’t posting a question against guidelines?"

What?

Also, yes you are the only one. :)

Yes. It’s the truth, you should just accept it and try to learn something. Go to the library.

I think theres’ an idiot out there trying to play. I wonder if he;s the same one that’s been trying to bait Atheists and getting removed…

I do find it insulting because it is an untrue statement. Unfortunatly, it could be argued that since there are some Christians that do have lower IQ. (Stanford assesment) then the question is valid.

I would report it and eventually when more and more people do the same, it will be taken off. It is a deliberate attempt to mock those who belive

yeah – it was all over. it was offensive. kinda like the questions some Christians post about atheists.
adorkable vixen | Mar 30, 2008

Well, apparently not everyone finds it offensive. Is it true?
Wolfechu II | Mar 30, 2008

Just because someone wrote it doesn’t make it true, you find all sorts of lies in print. Just look at the Inquirer Magazines.

Well, that statement is backed up by evidence, so if it is offensive then reality must be offensive.

I’m not in favor of censoring reality.

I spent three minutes doing a search.

It looks like there is evidence to back his claim.

Probably true. I live in the bible belt buckle. I can confirm this is very true. Most females think that all life is about is having a man and babies. That’s the aspirations they have in life. It’s passed down from generation to generation. Therefore, you have pregnant teens that marry and never finish school. Their husbands or live in boyfriends find labor work to support them as they didn’t get their education either. Pretty messed up here.
